Let’s Make a Meal!
Sometimes we all struggle with what to make for a meal or snack. We hear throughout our homes, ‘What’s for breakfast/lunch/dinner?’ So Let’s Make a Meal!
During the 7 weeks of Lent, let’s focus on one meal each week and provide donations to Good Neighbors Food Pantry for shoppers to make that meal. Below are ideas for each week. We would encourage you to pick 7 of any one item or 7 of different items. After 7 weeks of Lent, you will have donated 49, or more, items to help feed those in need in the Boyne Areas. Each week, we would focus on one meal, a different meal for each of the 7 weeks of Lent. Here are the categories and beginning thoughts on donations:
Week 1~Breakfast-Oatmeal, syrup, cinnamon, nuts, dried fruits, cereal, pancake mix, peanut butter, jelly/jam, granola
Week 2~Brunch-Boxed bacon, canned ham, muffin mixes, cake mixes, juice, canned baking fruit such as pumpkin/apples/cherries, pie crusts in a box
Week 3~School/Work lunch foods-Ramen, mayo/mustard/ketchup, chicken broth, chewy bars, canned beans of any kind, vinegar, almonds
Week 4~Lunch-Canned tuna/chicken, canned chickpeas, kitchen spray, salt/pepper, canned soaps, everything bagel seasoning, quinoa, walnuts
Week 5~After School Snacks-Granola bars, beef jerky/sticks, trail mix, flour/oil, popcorn
Week 6~Dinner-Any kind of pasta, pasta sauce, canned tomatoes, olives, any and all spices, boxed/bags Stuffing/potatoes, salsa, microwave or boxed rice, canned beans, canned veggies, BBQ sauce
Week 7~Healthy late-night snacks-Pistachios, tortilla chips, Cereal, pretzels, crackers, peanut or almond butter, cereal
Our pantry numbers continue to rise with so much need in our community. Your continued support is not only appreciated but very needed. Good Neighbors Food Pantry is a non-profit and only runs on donations. This is an amazing community who continues to support our weekly efforts.
