Good Neighbors Food Pantry

The Good Neighbors Food Pantry will provide us with lists of things that they need for the pantry every week. I will be updating this list each week with the current requests and including the date at the top.

From Nancy on 12/4:

Reminder:  CHUNKY SOUP CHALLENGE

On December 17, we will be distributing 85 Christmas boxes.  We are sending a shout-out to the St. Matthew’s community to help us fulfill our need for 85 chunky soups to include in these boxes. Thank you, in advance! These boxes will contain ham, scalloped potatoes, pineapple rings, green beans, apple sauce, cuties, a stick of butter, a tin of cookies, chunky soup, and a nice holiday dish towel.  We also create tags and a menu to include in a reusable bag.

Needs for the pantry this week:

~Cereal-Manna only has one offering now: bran flakes

~Boxed spaghetti-Manna is out for next week

~Any broth

~Small sugar bags

~Great Northern Beans

~Any jelly or jam

~Canned Chicken

~ Chili-ready beans and/or chili-ready tomato sauce

Nancy’s Notes:  As a part of our mission statement, we do our best to provide our shoppers with healthy options.  To that end, there is always a good array of fresh vegetables and fruits as well as meat and poultry.  Every week in the year, we purchase these items using donated funds, shopping at Aldi, Walmart and Dollar Tree.  The pantry has volunteers who shop these stores with lists weekly, delivering the items back to the pantry and putting them in the fridges/freezers or on the shelves.  Sometimes, these trips result in 3 completely filled carts, or more, if we are also picking up staple items, as well.  A separate shopper buys eggs weekly and another, bread.  It’s an amazing commitment by so many every week offering our shoppers a great assortment of healthy food.

Good Neighbor’s Thanks You, St. Matthew’s, for helping with your bountiful donations!
