Jail Ministry

The primary mission of the jail ministry is to share God’s word with people who are in very difficult circumstances and in the process the ministry leaders are blessed beyond measure. Their core values are to be a vehicle that God uses to provide hope to people in seemingly hopeless situations by reading and discussing God’s Word.

The jail bible study ministry is, at its core, about a group of people sitting down together to read and discuss scripture while at the same time encouraging each other to allow God’s words to work in our hearts and minds. The leaders and participants all want the same thing – a closer relationship with Christ that leads us to an eternal place with God our Father. The leaders do not minister to all inmates, just the ones who are seeking a deeper relationship with Christ.

Both men’s and women’s bible study are offered. Typically, there are two ministers for every session. Women meet from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM every Wednesday. Men meet from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Thursday evenings. Usually, there are one to five participants, but they have had as many as 15 participants. The readings from the previous Sunday Mass are read and discussed. Becky makes the schedule monthly, and ministers would typically go one or two times per month. If unable to attend your assigned session due to health, travel, or schedule conflicts, others will cover for you.

If you are interested in joining, Don would be happy to sit down with you one-on-one to go over in detail what the ministry involves. Don encourages you to pray on it, if God puts it on your heart, you will know!
