A longstanding Catholic tradition, the May Crowning of Mary honors the Virgin Mary. A “May Crowning” is typically held, where Mary is presented with a floral crown. Throughout history, Catholics have long honored the Blessed Virgin Mary during the month of May. To symbolize her significance in the Church and in our lives, the “May Crowning” is set up to display her queenship as the mother of Jesus.
We will be celebrating our Annual May Crowning on Sunday, May 15th after the 11 am Mass at St. Matthew’s. Our candidates for First Communion and Confirmation will have celebrated their final initiation sacraments the previous day and will be involved in the May Crowning. This will also mark the formal ending to another great year of faith formation at Boyne Valley Catholic Community.
